Paris. A city that globally speaks volumes for its culture and is renowned for its art and history; this all of which is characterised in its people. This isn’t my typical style of photography but you can literally feel the culture whilst you’re walking down the street and this inspired me to try something different. The people were my main point of interest as Parisians naturally have so much character in their actions and habits. I wanted to them to be the focus of my images for these reasons and felt that the emotion would better read as a black and white series.
The Pont Alexander III bridge was the only image which I allowed an element of colour to appear in. This was simply because the bridge in person is so grand and dramatic, with a great attention to detail and the thoughtfulness. Gold is often used in the architecture in Paris and it definitely adds an element of royalty and wealth, which I felt should be shown in a subtle way.
